Associated with the Kay family including Adam Kay who was a foreman at Ceelman Brothers for 10 years before starting his own Knitting machine manufacturing business Kay & Co.; Good example of Gothic Revival style architecture including two front gables with central windows; Part of the historic residential streetscape of Charles Street.
What the status means
On the register but not designated. Listing does not require a heritage permit for alterations, but an owner must give the Town 60 days' notice of an intention to demolish or remove a building or structure (Ontario Heritage Act, s. 27(9)).
