Halton Hills wards and council: who represents you

Four wards, two local councillors each, two Regional Councillors, and how to speak to council or vote.

Summary

Halton Hills Town Council has eleven members: the Mayor, two Regional Councillors and eight Local Councillors, two for each ward. There are four wards: Acton, the rural area and hamlets, North Georgetown and South Georgetown. The Mayor and both Regional Councillors also sit on Halton Regional Council, and the next municipal election is on Monday, 26 October 2026.

How council is made up

Who sits on Halton Hills Town Council?

Eleven members, elected by Halton Hills residents for a four-year term: the Mayor, two Regional Councillors and eight Local Councillors. Local Councillors represent each Town ward on issues for Halton Hills; each Regional Councillor represents two wards and also represents Halton Hills on Halton Regional Council. All of them are members of Town Council.

What are the wards?

There are four wards in the Town: Ward 1 is Acton, Ward 2 the rural area and hamlets, Ward 3 North Georgetown and Ward 4 South Georgetown. Each ward has two Local Councillors. One Regional Councillor represents Wards 1 and 2, and the other Wards 3 and 4.

The Town's Elected Officials page lists the Mayor, both Regional Councillors and the Local Councillors for each ward with a phone number and email for each. Each ward section also has a link to email both of that ward's Local Councillors at once.

Halton Regional Council

What is Halton Regional Council, and who from Halton Hills sits on it?

Halton Regional Council is the council of the Regional Municipality of Halton, made up of Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville. It has 24 members: the Regional Chair, the only member who does not also sit on a local council, plus members from the four local municipalities, including their Mayors. Three come from the Town of Halton Hills: the Mayor and the two Regional Councillors.

Who do Halton Hills voters elect to Regional Council?

Two people: the Mayor of their municipality, who also serves as a Regional Councillor, and the Regional Councillor for their ward.

Under the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, the Halton Regional Chair is now appointed by the Province and is not on the ballot.

Town Council meetings and having your say

When does Halton Hills Council meet, and where are agendas?

Council meets in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 1 Halton Hills Drive, and its meetings begin at 3 p.m. Agendas, minutes and recordings are posted on the Town's municipal calendar: agendas about 10 days ahead (by rule at least 48 hours), revised agendas 4 days ahead, recordings 2 days after, and minutes once Council approves them at the next meeting.

You can watch the open part of a meeting in person or on the livestream; you do not need to register just to watch.

How do I speak at a council meeting?

Fill in the Application to Appear before Council by 4:30 p.m. one business day before the meeting; the Clerk's office confirms in writing. Delegates may speak only on items on an upcoming agenda, get up to five minutes, can attend in person or by Zoom, and may show up to twelve slides. To raise something not on an agenda, or to see if a delegation is needed at all, email the Clerk's office at clerks@haltonhills.ca.

For a statutory public meeting under the Planning Act, register by 6 p.m. on the meeting day, by email to the Clerk's office or on a card at Town Hall.

Can I send council written comments instead?

Yes. Email comments to the Town Clerk's office at clerks@haltonhills.ca before the meeting. They are circulated to Council and become part of the public record.

The 2026 municipal election

When is the 2026 Halton Hills municipal election?

Election Day is Monday, 26 October 2026, with in-person voting from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the voting location for your ward. Online advance voting runs from 9 a.m. on Friday 9 October to 11:59 p.m. on Saturday 24 October, but you must first opt in at the Town's voting portal by 6 p.m. on 24 October and receive a PIN. Results are declared on 27 October and the new Council term starts on 15 November 2026.

Who will I vote for?

Halton Hills voters elect the Mayor, two Local Councillors for their ward, one Regional Councillor for Wards 1 and 2 or for Wards 3 and 4, and one school board trustee for whichever of the four boards they support: Halton District, Halton Catholic District, Conseil scolaire Viamonde or Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.

How do I check I'm on the voters' list, and what ID do I need?

Check at vote2026.haltonhills.ca until 6 p.m. on 24 October. To make changes, go to the Service Halton Hills counter at Town Hall on a weekday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or update your information at your ward's voting location on Election Day with acceptable ID. When voting in person you must bring one document showing your name and qualifying address, such as an Ontario driver's licence or photo card, a lease or mortgage, an insurance policy or a cancelled personalized cheque.

If you own several properties in Halton Hills, you vote once, in the ward of your primary residence.
