How do I reach the Town of Halton Hills?

Service Halton Hills, the Town's front desk at Town Hall, 1 Halton Hills Drive, answers at 905-873-2600, ext. 0, or toll-free at 1-877-712-2205. The Town's online directory lists a direct extension for each department, from Clerks to Recreation and Parks.

How do I report a pothole, a broken streetlight or a problem in a park?

Use the Town's online forms. The Maintenance Service Request covers Town roads, sidewalks, boulevards, roadsides, parks, trails and recreational facilities; a separate form reports failed or damaged street, pathway and parking lot lights. For emergencies, the Town says to call 911.

Problems on private property, with utilities or with Regional services may need to go to another organization.

How do I make a by-law complaint?

Submit an Enforcement Service Request online, or call Enforcement Services at 905-873-2600, ext. 2330. The Town's municipal law enforcement officers enforce its by-laws, and its Resident Guide groups the common concerns, such as noise, property standards, fences, parking, pets and fireworks, with a link to each by-law.

Enforcement Services does not take anonymous complaints. For immediate, emergency help outside business hours, the Town directs residents to Halton Regional Police Service.

Halton Region and Halton Hills Hydro

What is 311, and who answers it?

311 is a free, multilingual, non-emergency number for government services anywhere in Halton. Calls go to Access Halton, which Halton Region runs for the Regional and local municipal governments, Halton Regional Police Service and the two Halton school boards. From outside Halton, or if 311 does not connect, call 905-825-6000 or 1-866-442-5866.

Near the regional border, a cell phone can reach a tower outside Halton; the Region suggests using 905-825-6000 in that case.

Who runs my water and sewer service, and who bills it?

Halton Region charges for water and wastewater service, but bills it through your local hydro provider: the charges appear on your hydro bill and are paid through the same account. In Halton Hills that provider is Halton Hills Hydro Inc., at 519-853-3700. Contact the hydro provider about water readings, bills and payments.

Property owners are responsible for maintaining all services, plumbing and devices on private property.

Who fixes a Regional road?

Report a problem on a Regional road to Halton Region at 311 or 866-442-5866. Problems on a local road go to the local municipality, which in Halton Hills is the Town's Public Works department.

Winter is the exception: the Town says its own crews also clear the Regional roads within Halton Hills.

Who do I call about a power outage?

Halton Hills Hydro, which distributes electricity in the Town of Halton Hills. Its emergencies and outages line is 519-853-3701; call that number for an electrical emergency such as downed wires. Its office is at 43 Alice Street, Acton, open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What is the police non-emergency number?

Halton Regional Police Service's non-emergency line is 905-825-4777: use it when a crime has happened but is not in progress, no one is hurt and there is no immediate threat, to make a report, or for police information. For an emergency, where lives or property are at risk or a crime is in progress, dial 911.
