Who do I set up utilities with in Halton Hills?
The Town's Essential Services page says many everyday services in Halton Hills come from regional partners and utility providers rather than the Town: waste collection, recycling and organics from the Region of Halton, and electricity distribution, outage response, metering and billing from Halton Hills Hydro. It also reminds residents to request utility locates before digging or starting outdoor projects.

Residential meters are read and billed every two months. Every account pays a fixed service charge based on meter size, plus usage charges for water and wastewater per cubic metre; most homes are billed every two months, so the bill shows twice the monthly service charge.

Halton Hills Hydro bills all its customers monthly. It bills water on behalf of Halton Region every other month, so every second bill carries the water and wastewater charges for the previous two months.
If the meter reader cannot get access, a card is left at your door and you can submit your own water meter reading online to avoid an estimated bill.
Who do I call if my water meter is leaking or broken?
Halton Region. If your water meter is leaking, malfunctioning, making noise or its sensor is disconnected, email accesshalton@halton.ca or call 311. The Region is replacing analog water meters across Halton with a wireless digital system.
My property is on a private well. Who looks after it?
You do. Halton Region says private well owners are responsible for maintaining and testing their wells, and it publishes guidance on disinfecting a well, testing well water and decommissioning unused wells, which must be decommissioned to reduce the risk of groundwater contamination.
How do I know if natural gas is available at my address?
Enbridge Gas asks you to enter the postal code of the property to check whether it is in its service area. If natural gas is on your street and the home has a meter, you open a new account; if not, you can apply to switch to natural gas.
Water comes with your Halton Hills Hydro account, so one move-in request covers both.
How do I open an account with Halton Hills Hydro?
Use the online Move In request, call Halton Hills Hydro's customer service during business hours, or print, sign and return its Residential Account Application. Because Halton Hills Hydro is the billing agent for Halton Region's water and wastewater services, the same request sets up water billing. You choose a pricing plan (Time-of-Use, Ultra-Low Overnight or Tiered) and can sign up for pre-authorized payments and eBills.
Move-in dates on weekends or holidays are read on the next business day. If a security deposit or credit check is needed, Halton Hills Hydro will contact you.
At least two business days' notice of your move. Online and printable forms cover moving in, moving out with no new service, and moving within Halton Hills as an existing customer.
I'm buying or selling a home. What happens to the water account?
When ownership changes, contact your local hydro provider for the final water meter reading and transfer information, including any unpaid water and wastewater charges and known compliance issues such as obsolete equipment. If you do not ask, outstanding balances and compliance issues pass with the property and become the buyer's responsibility.
Property owners can assign a third party, such as a tenant or property manager, to hold the water and wastewater account, and billing and payment notices can go to that account holder.
Unpaid water and wastewater charges can still be added to the property's tax bill and collected from the owner like unpaid municipal taxes.
How do I start natural gas service with Enbridge Gas?
Submit your move online with your new address, checked to be inside Enbridge Gas's service area, and your move-in and move-out dates. A one-time New Account Charge appears on your first bill, and you get a new Enbridge Gas account number.
After the first bill, update the account number in your bank's bill payment settings so payments are applied correctly.
