How to vote in Halton Hills: online voting opens Friday, October 9, Election Day is October 26
Halton Hills voters who opt in can vote online from 9 a.m. on October 9 until 11:59 p.m. on October 24. In-person voting is on Election Day, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at a voting location in your ward.
What is on the ballot
Halton Hills voters will choose a Mayor, two Local Councillors for their ward, one Regional Councillor for their pair of wards (Wards 1 and 2 together, or Wards 3 and 4 together), and one school board trustee. Which trustee race appears depends on the school board the voter supports: the Halton District School Board, the Halton Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde or Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.
Halton Region notes that the Halton Regional Chair will not be on the ballot this year. Under the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, the Province now appoints the Chair. Halton Hills voters still elect two members of Regional Council: the Mayor and the Regional Councillor for their wards.

Who can vote and what to bring
- You must be a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years old on voting day.
- You must live in Halton Hills, or own or rent land there, or be the spouse of someone who does.
- You must not be prohibited from voting by law. A person who owns several properties in Halton Hills votes once, in the ward of their primary residence.

Checking the voters' list
Voters can confirm they are on the voters' list, and review their school support, at vote2026.haltonhills.ca until 6 p.m. on October 24. Changes now go through the Town: in person at the Service Halton Hills counter at Town Hall, 1 Halton Hills Drive, on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or at your ward's voting location on Election Day with acceptable ID.
Voting by proxy
An eligible voter who cannot vote online or on Election Day can appoint another eligible Halton Hills elector as a proxy. The appointment form is available at the Service Halton Hills counter. The proxy must take the form, bearing the voter's original signature, to the Clerk's Office during business hours to have it certified, with identification for both people. A proxy can act for only one person unless they are voting for a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother, sister or spouse.
